Care for our Dad was exceptional

Nine months ago after a fall and a stay in hospital we were told that our Dad could not come home and would have to go into a nursing home. Shock, horror, we didn't know anything about homes only negatives, so my family had to go into the unknown.

Visiting a few we found one, but because of a bug at the home Dad couldn't go there straight away so we had to put him into another one until the bug was clear. I want to say the name of the first home but all I will say is we were not best pleased with the care he received, but luckily it was only for a fortnight until we had the all clear and we moved him to his new nursing home in Hartcliffe.

Everything changes as soon as you walk through the door. The friendly, kind and caring staff helped us through a very upsetting time. Every day they were there for us and, of course, our Mum, who was finding it very difficult.

They do activities daily, they go on day trips. And the food? Well I found myself tucking into Dad's left-overs! Every night when we left Dad we knew he would be looked after. All Dad's visitors would say what a lovely place it was.

Unfortunately recently Dad lost his fight for life but right until the end all the staff were there for us and I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Hartcliffe Nursing Home.

You went above and beyond for our Dad and you have all become our expanding family. We will never forget what you did for our Dad. There are a few extra special ones who I won't name, they know who they are.

So readers, don't panic if you have the task that our family had of finding a place for your loved ones. There are good nursing homes out there and I would like to thank again all staff at Hartcliffe Nursing Home. We will never forget you.
